The National Trade Union Federation (NTUF) held a protest demonstration against the martial law and arrests of political activists, journalists and lawyers in front of Lahore Press Club. Trade unions members from Rustam Sohrab Cycle and Motorcycle Factory, members of Pakistan Bhatta Mazdoor (Brick Kiln) Union, Pakistan Printing and Graphic Workers Union and some other workers participated in the demonstration. Demonstration continued for twenty minutes before the police stopped it by force. Police snatched the banner from participants but the participants continued chanting their slogans against martial law, arrests of journalists, lawyers and political workers and for restoration of democracy. Brawl between police officers and demonstrators continued for some minutes; later after intervention of some photo journalists NTUF members decided to end the demonstration peacefully.
